Honda: King of Cars.com’s 2012 Shootout Competitions

Saturday, January 12th, 2013

Honda winner 2012 cars.comIt has been a big year for Honda: a record comeback from 2011’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan which wiped most of the inventory; three vehicle redesign introductions that drove them back to the top of the most coveted car segments in the market; and complete domination of Cars.com’s 2012 shootouts.

This year’s face-offs, held by Cars.com, USA Today and MotorWeek, placed six popular vehicles in each of the most competitive segments against each other in an all-out battle for the best car. And the results were clear: Honda vehicles are the best choice.

The 2013 Honda Accord, 2012 Honda Fit and 2012 Honda CR-V earned the highest scores on the three challenges intended to find the best car in each segment. A panel of five experts and a real-world, in-market family tested every vehicle in the shootouts and concluded that the Honda entries were the winners – actually besting the competition by an average of 26 points on the tests.

The 2013 Honda Accord won the $26,000 Midsize Sedan shootout; the 2012 Honda CR-V won the $25,000 Compact SUV shootout; and the 2012 Honda Fit won the $16,000 Subcompact shootout.

Honda Fit Back to School

The perfect Back-to-School car!

With back to school right around the corner, students around Texas are looking for the perfect ride to drive back to school. The one that fits perfectly into any student life is the 2012 Honda Fit. In fact, this awesome little Honda was included in Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com 10 Best Cars for Back-to-School list.

It’s no surprise that the Honda Fit was included on the list as it has been for the past several years given its awesome capabilities. Any student can testify that the best car is one they can easily take their friends in as well as one that can handle some serious cargo. With flexible rear seats that fold up and down, the Fit truly lives up to any student’s expectations.

Of course, given its size, the Fit is also outstanding on gas, getting well into the 30′s in highway fuel mileage. So it’s not only a blast to drive with the kick it gets from the engine, but it spreads out a student’s tight budget.

The Honda Fit is also very affordable, a huge plus for students and parents that might be helping with payment. Getting everything you want for the new school year for an affordable price is a great feeling – and that’s just what you get with the Honda Fit.

Honda Fit EV is changing the electric car game

2013 Honda Fit EV

Honda’s dive into the electric car realm is coming in the form of the 2013 Honda Fit EV. While it is based on the Honda Fit that is currently out there, it has its own unique qualities – in addition to the fact that it runs entirely on electricity. Obviously the Fit EV has a lot going for it, as it was recently named the most efficient vehicle on the market.

As far as design, the Fit EV looks very similar to the Honda Fit that we know and love, but it has gained some aerodynamic advantages. The new fascia diverts air more effectively, allowing the Fit EV to have less drag. It also brings more air into the engine, which keeps the electric motor cool.

The actual driving experience will be all new to Honda drivers. Under the hood is a 20kWh lithium-ion battery and 92 kilowatt electric motor. The result is 123 horsepower that is good enough for a top speed of 90 mph. A three-mode driving system allows drivers to select between Sport,Normaland Econ modes. Sport mode provides the most power to your ride, Econ mode saves the most energy and extends battery life andNormalmixes in the two for a comfortable driving experience. Obviously, range will depend on which mode you choose, with the optimal range coming from Econ.

By providing top-of-the-line efficiency, the 2013 Honda Fit EV is changing the electric car game.

2013 Honda Fit EV: The Most Efficient Car in the History of the U.S.

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

2013 Honda Fit EV | Howdy Honda | Austin TXThere’s a new leader in the quest to become the most efficient car on the market. The 2013 Honda Fit EV (electric vehicle) was recently named the most efficient car thanks to the 118 mile per gallon equivalent rating from the EPA. While the Fit EV doesn’t use any gas whatsoever, the EPA still gives it a ranking of MPGe. The new Honda Fit EV can travel a distance of 82 miles before needing to be recharged. It’s sure to be one popular electric car in Austin when it arrives.

Looking like a refreshed version of the 2012 Honda Fit the 2013 electric version has officially beaten out some tough competition in the efficiency category. With competitors like the Leaf and Focus Electric, the Fit EV just entered the market and took the title of most efficient vehicle. This is no small feat, as efficiency is a top priority for car buyers.

How did Honda take the most efficient crown? Well, the company credits the car’s lightweight design, aerodynamics and “savvy powertrain” for helping it top the competition. The Honda Fit EV is being rolled out on a limited basis this summer, and will get a full-scale release in early 2013.

Five 2012 Honda Models Take Top Awards: Ratings Don’t Lie

New Honda in Austin, TX

Honda won four Total Car Score awards, in addition to three Vehicle Satisfaction Awards.

Honda has done it again, and this time five 2012 Honda models took home two distinct reputation awards: three models received the AutoPacific’s 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards and four models were awarded Top Scoring Awards from Total Car Score.

The cars scoring highly on the Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) included the 2012 Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot. These scores were taken from over 75,000 customer surveys, meaning actual owners of the vehicles did the ranking. Since the VSA’s are completely based on owner input, it’s an accurate measurement of how satisfied new owners are. And we can’t think of a better way to get an accurate ranking of a car than from someone who actually drives it on a daily basis.

The Top Scoring Awards went to the 2012 Honda Ridgeline, Honda Fit, Honda Odyssey and Honda CR-V. This award comes from Total Car Score, which turns the ratings cars receive from trusted automotive sites into percentages. These percentages translate into a car’s Total Car Score, a score used by shoppers to compare vehicles.

“It’s fantastic to have so much of Honda’s outstanding product line represented in these awards,” said American Honda VP of Marketing Michael Accavitti.

These awards can give you a sense of how new Honda owners feel about their car purchase and they demonstrate how well regarded Honda products are. If you want to come and check one out for yourself, let us know! You can call us at 512-443-4300 or schedule a test drive online. We can help you get in the best and most reliable car in the market.

Howdy Honda’s Priority Spotlight: Cargo Space

Honda Cargo Space Austin TX

Howdy Honda's Priority Spotlight: Cargo Space

When buying a vehicle, 9 times out of 10, there is a deal breaker about the vehicle you almost pulled the trigger on that made you walk away. This is true for everyone, whether it is only a two door and you’re looking for a four-door, to the lot only having your desired vehicle with a manual transmission as opposed to an automatic. As the leading Honda dealer in Austin, we know that everything has to be just right about the next car you’ll be purchasing. If that deal breaker we spoke of before is cargo space, here are some reasons why a Honda might be the best choice for you.

Honda makes vehicles in all different shapes and sizes, but that’s not to say that they all don’t offer more than enough cargo space for each respective vehicle. Look at the 2012 Honda Fit for example. It is classified as a ‘small car,’ but this vehicle is anything but small in regard to cargo space. The Fit offers almost 21 cubic feet of cargo space, rivaling some compact SUVs. The Fit also has the option of putting the back seats down, which then offers the driver nearly 60 cubic feet of storage space! The Fit offers drivers four different storage modes including; people, long, tall and utility making almost anything fit in the back of this ‘small car.’

The Fit’s versatility is great, but unpractical for those with new and growing families. With that being said, the Honda Odyssey EX-L not only offers drivers 19 miles per gallon, but offers 61.5 cubic feet of storage space, all while seating seven comfortably.

Although those might be the extremes, overall vehicle size wise, Honda has several other vehicles that offer more than you can chew when it comes to cargo space. The Honda Element and Honda CR-V both offer consumers at least 25 cubic feet without putting any seats down and up to as much as 75 cubic feet of storage space! Needless to say if you’re looking for a vehicle that has the ability to store, you can definitely put Honda on your list.

Honda Fit named Best New-Car Value by Consumer Reports for the Second Year in a Row

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

2012 honda fit austin

We keep repeating that the Honda Fit is an awesome car, and you should definitely consider one if you are looking to buy a new car this year.

A few days ago, on January 3rd, Consumer Reports revealed its list of best value cars. The Honda Fit retained its top position as the Best Value Small Car and Best New-Car Overall Value. The independent product-testing organization analyzed over 200 different vehicles in 11 different vehicle categories.

Consumer Reports calculates value scores based on performance, reliability and cost of ownership data. The organization determines performance and reliability on road-test scores and its own predicted-reliability. Additionally, cost of ownership is based on the five-year cost of owning the vehicle, which estimates costs in depreciation, sales tax, maintenance and repair, fuel consumption, loan interests and insurance. Basically, the better a car’s performance is on the road-test and reliability ratings, and the less it costs to own over time, the better the car’s value.

As Rik Paul, the automotive editor for Consumer Reports, says: “A low price doesn’t necessarily make a car a good value. A cheap vehicle can wind up costing you more money over time or can be disappointing down the road. We think real value is what you get for your money.”

So there you have it, folks. The 2012 Honda Fit is a great car with even better overall value. If you are in the market, just give us a call at 512-443-4300 or shoot us an email at howdy@howdyhonda.com.
