It has been a big year for Honda: a record comeback from 2011’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan which wiped most of the inventory; three vehicle redesign introductions that drove them back to the top of the most coveted car segments in the market; and complete domination of Cars.com’s 2012 shootouts.
This year’s face-offs, held by Cars.com, USA Today and MotorWeek, placed six popular vehicles in each of the most competitive segments against each other in an all-out battle for the best car. And the results were clear: Honda vehicles are the best choice.
The 2013 Honda Accord, 2012 Honda Fit and 2012 Honda CR-V earned the highest scores on the three challenges intended to find the best car in each segment. A panel of five experts and a real-world, in-market family tested every vehicle in the shootouts and concluded that the Honda entries were the winners – actually besting the competition by an average of 26 points on the tests.
The 2013 Honda Accord won the $26,000 Midsize Sedan shootout; the 2012 Honda CR-V won the $25,000 Compact SUV shootout; and the 2012 Honda Fit won the $16,000 Subcompact shootout.
