2014 Honda Odyssey Rearview Camera

One of my favorite safety features in a new Honda are  the rearview and blindspot cameras. Honda has been recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as part of its 5-Star Safety Ratings program (also referred to as the New Car Assessment Program NCAP), with practically ALL Honda and Acura models with rearview camera systems becoming the first vehicles to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Transportation for having met its Advanced Technology Feature performance criteria. You can view safety ratings at here:

The Honda Accord Sedan, Accord Coupe, Accord Hybrid, Accord Plug-in, Civic Coupe, Civic Sedan, Civic Hybrid, Civic Natural Gas, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Fit EV, Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline earned the first recognition from NHTSA for application of recommended rearview camera systems (referred to as rearview video systems by the NHTSA)

“Rearview cameras are an integral part of Honda’s approach to enhance driver visibility,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “By the 2015 model year all Honda and Acura models will have rearview cameras standard on all models, yet another example of how our company is committed to enhancing the visibility and safety of our customers and everyone on the road.”

NCAP advanced tech features also include Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems which are also featured on many Honda vehicles. More than 94% of Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the US in 2013 were equipped with standard rearview cameras. These features all use a camera mounted behind the windshield or a front mount radar system to warn drivers of an impending collision with a vehicle detected in front, or to alert drivers if the car is moving out of a detected lane.

Honda  operates two of the world’s most sophisticated crash test facilities and is responsible for pioneering efforts in areas of crash testing, airbag technology, collision compatibility and pedestrian safety. Honda also leads the industry for 2014 in third party crash test ratings  with more models rated TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) than any other manufacturer.

Five 2012 Honda Models Take Top Awards: Ratings Don't Lie

Monday, June 11th, 2012
New Honda in Austin, TX

Honda won four Total Car Score awards, in addition to three Vehicle Satisfaction Awards.

Honda has done it again, and this time five 2012 Honda models took home two distinct reputation awards: three models received the AutoPacific’s 2012 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards and four models were awarded Top Scoring Awards from Total Car Score.

The cars scoring highly on the Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) included the 2012 Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot. These scores were taken from over 75,000 customer surveys, meaning actual owners of the vehicles did the ranking. Since the VSA’s are completely based on owner input, it’s an accurate measurement of how satisfied new owners are. And we can’t think of a better way to get an accurate ranking of a car than from someone who actually drives it on a daily basis.

The Top Scoring Awards went to the 2012 Honda Ridgeline, Honda Fit, Honda Odyssey and Honda CR-V. This award comes from Total Car Score, which turns the ratings cars receive from trusted automotive sites into percentages. These percentages translate into a car’s Total Car Score, a score used by shoppers to compare vehicles.

“It’s fantastic to have so much of Honda’s outstanding product line represented in these awards,” said American Honda VP of Marketing Michael Accavitti.

These awards can give you a sense of how new Honda owners feel about their car purchase and they demonstrate how well regarded Honda products are. If you want to come and check one out for yourself, let us know! You can call us at 512-443-4300 or schedule a test drive online. We can help you get in the best and most reliable car in the market.

Rear-View Camera To Become Standard For 2013 Honda Models

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Rearview camera on 2013 honda austin txHonda just announced that their 2013 vehicle models will feature a rear-view camera standard moving forward.

Vicki Poponi, American Honda’s Assistant VP of Product Planning, stated how important safety is to Honda, affirming that, “At Honda, we feel that this visibility feature will be important to many families and we’re widely applying it even before we may be required to do so. In addition to the wide application of the rear-view camera technology, Honda is also introducing several new features for enhanced driver safety, visibility and security in model-year 2013.”

Getting more into specifics, Honda announced that 94% of their total 2013 lineup will be offering the rear-view camera standard, leaving very few vehicles without it. The 2012 Honda CR-V already offers it as a standard feature and 100% of the 2013 Honda truck lineup will come standard with the rear-view camera. This means that all trim levels of the 2013 CR-V, Crosstour, Odyssey, Pilot, and Ridgeline will have this safety feature.

The rear-view camera will certainly offer drivers extra visibility, but it isn’t the only new safety feature on the 2013 Honda lineup. Honda is adding Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning systems as optional safety features. These two warning technologies will make their debuts on both the 2013 Honda Accord and the 2013 Honda Crosstour.

Are you looking forward to the 2013 Honda lineup?
